Unwrap & Release: A Restorative Yoga Workshop - 28th December 2025

The Christmas period is often described as a time of rest, yet for many of us it can feel anything but restful. Between social gatherings, family commitments, travel, rich food, late nights, and the emotional intensity that can come with this time of year, our nervous systems can end up feeling overstimulated and depleted.

This is where restorative yoga offers something truly different AND deeply needed.

In this post, I’d love to share what restorative yoga is, why it’s so beneficial (especially at this time of year), and invite you to experience it for yourself at my 2 hour Restorative Yoga Workshop, Unwrap & Release, on Sunday 28th December.

What Is Restorative Yoga?

Restorative yoga is a gentle, slow, and deeply nourishing practice designed to support the body’s natural ability to rest and heal. Unlike more active styles of yoga, restorative poses are fully supported using props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps and cushions.

Postures are held for longer periods. Often 5 to 15 minutes, allowing the body to completely relax without effort or strain. The aim is not to stretch or strengthen, but to rest deeply.

In restorative yoga, the nervous system is invited to shift out of “doing mode” and into “being mode.” This activates the parasympathetic nervous system, often referred to as the “rest and digest” response, which supports:

  • Deep relaxation

  • Reduced stress and anxiety

  • Improved sleep

  • Better digestion

  • Emotional regulation

  • Overall nervous system balance

In a world that constantly asks us to do more, restorative yoga invites us to slow down and truly rest and restore.

Why Restorative Yoga Is Especially Powerful After Christmas

The days after Christmas can feel strangely quiet. A pause between the busyness of the festive season and the pull of the New Year. It’s a liminal space, a threshold moment, and an ideal time for restorative practice.

After the stimulation of Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day, many people feel:

  • Overwhelmed or overstimulated

  • Physically tired but unable to properly rest

  • Emotionally tender

  • Disconnected from their own needs

Restorative yoga helps you gently land back in your body. It allows your system to processdigest, and integrate everything that has just passed - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Rather than rushing straight into New Year intentions or resolutions, restorative yoga invites you to pause first. To rest. To reset.

What to Expect in Unwrap & Release ( Sunday 28th December)

This special 2‑hour workshop, Unwrap & Release, is designed as a full nervous system reset.

You can expect:

  • A warm, calm, and supportive environment

  • Fully guided restorative poses with plenty of props

  • Long, luxurious holds that allow deep relaxation

  • Gentle breath awareness to soothe the nervous system

  • Time and space to truly switch off

  • An extra long closing deep relaxation to leave you feeling grounded and replenished

No prior yoga experience is needed. Restorative yoga is accessible to all bodies and is particularly supportive if you are feeling tired, stressed, burned out, or simply in need of rest.

Think of it as giving your body and mind a metaphorical deep exhale.

This Workshop Is For You If…

  • You feel exhausted after the festive season

  • You struggle to properly relax or switch off

  • You want to improve your sleep and energy levels

  • You’re craving stillness and quiet

  • You’d like to end the year feeling calm and nourished rather than depleted

Many people are surprised by how powerful doing less can be. Restorative yoga often leaves participants feeling lighter, clearer, and more at ease, sometimes after just one session.

An Invitation to Rest

This workshop is the perfect moment to gift yourself rest. Not as a reward for being productive but because rest is essential. Or you could give someone else the gift of rest and buy the workshop as a surprise for them.

If you’d like to experience the benefits of restorative yoga in a supportive, unhurried setting, I would love for you to join me on Sunday 28th December for Unwrap & Release, this special 2‑hour restorative yoga workshop.

Spaces are limited to ensure everyone receives individual support and comfort.

✨ Give yourself permission to rest, reset, and renew before the New Year begins. ✨
